As a federally incorporated non-profit, we can serve clients across Canada. However, at this time we are only assisting clients who reside in Nova Scotia so that we can provide the best follow-up and be accessible to our clients and Service Dogs. Our main focus is our Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome Service Dog program and our PTSD Service Dog program. We train for civilians and military/first responders.
We do not charge for our Service Dogs. There is a $25 application fee which will assist in covering costs with training our dogs such as food and veterinary bills. Although not required, it is encouraged that clients assist in fundraising for a future client's Service Dog. There will be an equipment fee upon placement. This may include the necessary specialty harnesses and gear, initial food and other supplies. After placement, all costs associated with the care and upkeep of the Service Dog are the responsibility of the client.
K9PAD is a federally incorporated non-profit. We are volunteer based with no paid positions. This allows us to train our dogs for a much lower cost. If you are interested in volunteering, we have a range of positions that may fit your skill set and interests. Contact us to learn more.
We work closely with the Atlantic Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome Society to develop custom trained Service Dogs for individuals with EDS.
We provide fully trained PTSD Service Dogs to civilians, veterans, and first responders. Please contact us for more information.
On a case by case basis, we may train and provide a Service Dog to a client that requires mobility tasks but does not have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome.
