To learn about our Client-Trainer Program, click here. This program is currently conducting intake for Spring 2021.
Our focus is currently on completing the training for our current K9PAD Service Dogs in Training. From now until when we are able to open up applications, we may have a Service Dog in Training that is more suitable for a different disability at which time we may open applications for a specific disability.
Our programs are open to military, first responders, and civilians.
The application process may take a few weeks. You will be kept informed throughout the process and will be contacted when necessary.
The Client-Trainer program has additional eligibility criteria and a different application process. Please contact us at Info@K9PAD.org for more information. And check out this page.
We currently only provide Service Dogs to clients residing in Nova Scotia. Most of our training takes place in Hammonds Plains and Bedford, NS.
Our application fee is $25. This is non-refundable.
We do not charge for our Service Dogs but we do encourage clients to fundraise for a future client's Service Dog. Fundraising or donations do not affect the wait time or application process.
Upon placement of a Service Dog, K9PAD charges an equipment fee of $2000. It covers specialty equipment that the client requires, initial toys and supplies, food, and other equipment.
K9PAD has minimum eligibility requirements that must be met in order to be considered for a K9PAD Service Dog. Meeting the minimum eligibility does not guarantee acceptance into our program. With the application and interviews, K9PAD will determine suitability for our program.
(Our goal is to ensure the best possible matching between client and Service Dog. Our application process may take a couple of months to ensure suitability. An approved application does not guarantee successful matching.)
